Scuba diving in Florida

Tags:

The following is a guest post from Chris. He’s collected some of the more popular SCUBA dive centers in Florida. I used to vacation in the Florida Keys as a kid, visiting family, so the region is pretty special to me. If SCUBA isn’t your thing, there’s also many other water-related activities off Florida’s coast: deep-see fishing, snorkeling  glass-bottom boats…the list goes on. It’s a beautiful state with lots of beautiful things to do.

One of the greatest benefits of holidaying in Florida is of course being able to enjoy some of the world’s greatest waters that surround the state. As there are so many great beaches to enjoy the bluest of waters, there are of course many scuba diving centres to go with them.

Scuba diving is one of the greatest experiences that you can have in the sea, no matter whereabouts in the world; the fact that you have the opportunity to do it in Florida’s waters however, makes the experience just a whole lot more special.

With that in mind, here are five of the top scuba diving centres in the state of Florida that we highly recommend after reading this blog post from Florida 4 Less:

Scuba Lessons Inc

Based just west of Cape Coral and Fort Myers, Scuba Lessons Inc are one of the top scuba diving centres on the west coast of Florida. By joining the club you are open to great discounts on scuba diving products in addition to various expeditions all over the state of Florida.

If you’re a first time diver however, the centre also supplies lessons so that you can dip your feet in the safest of waters without having to worry about what to do!

Tanks-A-Lot Scuba

One of the largest centres on the Gulf of Mexico and the only one to be inspected and certified by the Coast Guard. With over 15 years of business, gift certificates are also available for loved ones, and for as little as $80 you can enjoy a Two Tank Dive Trip in the warm Florida waters.

Lost Reef Adventures

With their 40-foot diving boat at hand, Lost Reef Adventures offers divers some of the most unique waters in the Key West area. Offering snorkelling as well as scuba diving, the dive team provides daily diving trips. The Reef & Reef dive is a two location dive with an hour spent at each site.

Prices vary depending on what equipment you need and the centre offers both PADI and NAUI scuba diving certificates for those wanting to take their experience just that little bit further.

Florida Keys Dive Center

Having been around since the early 80s’ the Florida Keys Scuba Diving Center is a five star PADI certified diving centre, making it one of the most popular options in not just Key West, but all of Florida.

Whether you are after equipment to rent or buy, the dive centre has it all, including 2 to 6 day wreck excursions. A holiday within a holiday!

Jupiter Dive Center

Situated in the town of Jupiter, just North of West Palm Beach, the Jupiter Dive Center offers daily charters, courses and enough rental equipment to make sure that you have one of the greatest diving experiences in Florida.

With their two 40’ dive boats situated in the tranquil docks of Jupiter Harbour, excursions happen seven days a week beginning at 8am. Prices start from $65 for a 2 tank dive.

  1. Obviously, your opinions are inaccurate and bias. How can you rate the WEST Coast of Florida when the BEST diving and shops are on the East Coast.

Guess your sleeping with the enemy and they give you free diving for your bias blog posts?

You mention the Florida Keys as well. Unless you have personally gone diving from Stuart and to Key West and all the points in between, you would have NOT mentioned the places you did.

Your observations and mis-representation of Florida diving SUCKS.

    • Hey Laura,

Thanks for the comment. If you’ve got some better suggestions, I’d happily publish them in a guest post of your own!
