Yesterday I went to a lecture/reading of Jonathan Safran Foer’s new book Eating Animals. Besides saying “novels are useless,” he had a lot of intelligent, clever & funny things to say about vegetarianism.

Though he’s a big advocate for vegetarianism, he did say his main thesis is to believe strongly in your convictions—whatever they are. That’s a sentiment I can get on board with!

So after a little deliberating, I’ve decided to try and avoid meat. I’m not giving it up entirely so I won’t call myself a vegetarian, but I do want to have a more positive impact on the environment. Because travellers are always so concerned with their effect on climate change, by eating less meat I hope to offset my damage. That’s my thought on the subject for now, but I’ll have to figure out some more serious solutions as well.

Great review of the book over here at Entertainment Realm: Eating Animals Book Review & Giveaway. Can’t wait to finally read it!

I refer to myself as a “hypocritical carnivore” because I enjoy the taste of meat but something just feels umm… “wrong.” And I see 2 very good arguments to being a vegetarian and being a carnivore. Ufff.
