A Slice of Luxury in Chiang Mai: the Anantara Hotel

Hotel review and photos from the Anantara Resort Hotel in Chiang Mai – simple, stylish, elegant and comfortable rooms

Anantara Hotel Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai is one of those charming cities which takes a bit of time to fall in love with. It took me a few repeated visits over several years to finally find a sort of attraction to the city, but on my most recent visit on a trip with OUT Adventures, Chiang Mai’s charms finally rubbed off on me.

Part of that is with thanks to the Anantara Resort Hotel. Located just a short walk from the Old City, the hotel has an ample amount of space and the perfectly manicured lawn and pool make it a sleek, modern hotel choice. I loved the hotel for its straight lines and simple (but stylish) design.

The amenities on offer were fine and the room was comfortable (and even, dare I say, oversized!). I loved that the room came with a yoga mat in the closet and a speaker system set up to easily connect with my iPhone for surround sound.

The hotel pool, located on the banks of Chiang Mai’s river was small, but I didn’t have trouble getting a lounge chair. During my visit I also had the chance to sample some of the restaurant specialties during an outdoor barbecue. My room’s balcony looked into the resort so there wasn’t much privacy, but the day beds made it easy to relax and still be comfortable.

Anantara resort hotels and spas are located all over the world—from China to the Maldives. They call themselves a luxury brand, and perhaps they are, but prices at Anantara Chiang Mai seem relatively affordable to me. It was a new hotel brand for me but I liked the simple elegance provided, so it’s a brand I’ll definitely check out again.
