9 months abroad, more to come

Today, February 5, marks nine months since I left America. Nine months and a day ago I boarded a flight from Dallas to Madrid. A lot has happened since that day. I’ve snorkeled in the Red Sea, trekked tea fields in India, cruised the Nile River, drank a hell of a lot of red wine in Spain and attended peace rallies in Israel. I’ve slept on cheap hostel beds, camped in the desert, shared mattresses with strangers, stayed up all night partying and spent whole nights clutching my backpack with my eyes half-open on trains and buses.

Nine months is a lot of time. If I think back to where I was and what I was doing just before I left, it’s almost impossible for me to remember all those thoughts that used to float around in my head. The past seems so very far away, maybe too far.

But anyways, nine months abroad. Two months backpacking Spain, Morocco & Egypt last summer. Four months in Israel; three more in India.

And as for the future, there’s much more to come. I’ll have a proper update soon. Photos from my three months of India will eventually get up online and I’ll see about actually sharing some of the gazillion things I learned and experienced while in such a seemingly exciting place. As for now, I’m back in Israel for a few weeks taking a much-needed vacation from being a bum backpacker.

There’s more to come! I promise promise promise this time…. Thanks for all your patience, for checking this blog, for keeping up with me on Twitter and on Facebook. Thanks for asking about me and sending me e-mails, commenting on this site and still appreciating me despite ignoring you for the past month. Those beaches in India can really suck you in…
