Budget Hotel in Dresden’s hip neighborhood: Neustadt

Staying in a budget hotel in Dresden

On my weekend trip to Dresden, my friends and I found a cheap hotel. The hotel was able to fit us up in their “penthouse”—which for a budget hotel consisted of the room up on the top level. We had a large outdoor balcony, a TV and sitting area, a large double bed, two single beds and we were able to get a fold-away bed. All pretty luxurious for We had more than enough room and because there weren’t many other guests in the hotel, we were able to negotiate on the price—less than 100€ for the night (and that’s for 5 people)!

The Hotel Mezzaluna is a great place if you’re road-tripping through the German countryside. They offer parking and because the hotel is located on the outside of the city, it’s a great place for a base in the city my friend calls “the most beautiful city in Germany.”

Neustadt: hipster neighborhood in Dresden

The hotel isn’t far from Dresden’s most hip neighborhood: Neustadt. The bars and cafes that dot Louisenstraße in Neustadt are definitely the place to be—especially on the weekend. You’ll find plenty of people drinking on the street, lots of trendy bars and other nightlife options.

My night out in Dresden included beers at a local brewery and cocktails at the very popular Pinta bar.
