Windowsills of Burano

I’ve never been to as colorful a place as the Burano Island in Venice. While all the buildings may be painted in pretty pastels, I found the windowsills in Burano to be worthy of their own special attention. So many colors and flowers! The color combinations were truly unique and original. Several of the flowers matched the colors of the surrounding walls, but many clashed. With so much color popping through the island, though, you can’t blame the locals for mismatched styles. Just gave the island even more charm.

“Color is like music. It uses a shorter way to come to our senses to awake our emotions.” Explore more photos of the windowsills in Burano below:

OMG, I love these Adam! Awesome windowsills and I’m feeling it, like wanting to fall in love again. Those photos are so inspirational

    • Adam says:

      Thanks Doc Wends!!

It’s funny how we notice strange things when in foreign places. Normally I wouldn’t give a second glance at a windowsill, but these all caught my eye.

  2. So diverse and colorful! Cool photos!

    • Adam says:

Thanks Jeremy! I couldn’t resist myself from taking all these photos while wandering around Burano.

we were in venice thinking we’d take the ferry to murano to check out the glass works and i’d asked around how to do so but somehow we ended up in burano. no gorgeous glass but gorgeous colors and the beautiful music of a small village – and certainly not a disappointment; more like serendipity!

  4. Ayngelina says:

Burano was one of my highlights the last time I was in Italy. It reminds me of La Boca in Buenos Aires – so colourful.

  5. Jennifer says:

Great photos! Burano is so colorful because all the houses looked the same and the fisherman wanted an easy way to identify which house was theirs when returning from a day fishing in the lagoon.

  6. Those windows all look like they came from a professional photoshoot. What awesome colors. I like growing food on my windowsill. It’s a challenge to see what I can get from such a small space.

  7. Arti says:

Amazingly pretty! Both the modern ones and the old ones look fabulous. They are so very well decorated too, with the flower pots!
Have a fantastic weekend Adam :)

Oooh I love things like this! I’m sure i’d have snapped a few photos too, Adam! I love the one that is the colors of the Italian flag. I don’t even care if the colours are mismatched – everything is grey here in Korea, so I get so excited when I see buildings with colour splashed over them, even if it is something as small as a windowsill :)

Grandma and I went to Burano. She loved the window boxes.I have a watercolor in my condo . We bought there

  10. Wow…these pics are quite stunning and the colors so vibrant! Never made it to Burano while in Venice but did see Murano, the island of Venetian glass.
