Mallorca Travel Guide

The ultimate guide to the best things to do and see in Mallorca

Mallorca, one of Spain’s best islands and a popular tourist spot for Europeans (especially Brits and Germans!) is a great place for sun, sea and seafood! Start here with my basic Mallorca travel tips, or jump down below to read my latest Mallorca travel blogs.

When to Visit

As an island, Mallorca is of course a popular summer beach destination, especially with north Europeans. This means that the summer can be very busy and crowded on the coast of the island, so in order to avoid some of the crowds, the best time to visit is between March and May when the weather is pleasant but before it fills up with British and German tourists.

Top Places to Visit

Palma – The capital. Palma is the biggest city on the island, with some great restaurants, a cool nightlife scene and has some of the most impressive sights too. Take a walk through the pine forest to Bellver Castle, stop by the San Juan Mercado Gastronomico for some local treats and wander around the beautiful old town.

Alcúdia – In the much less touristy north of the island, Alcúdia is a cute town close to some gorgeous beaches and stunning natural landscapes. Also make sure to include a visit to the Museo Sa Bassa Blanca, a modern art museum in a former bunker.

Sóller – Spend an afternoon wandering around this gorgeous little town on Mallorca’s west coast. You can get there by train from Palma (the only one on the island!) Eat ice cream, admire the views and buy some souvenirs from the local vendors.

Mallorca Tours

Although it’s a relatively small island, taking a tour around or on Mallorca will save you time and get you in to some areas of the island you might otherwise overlook, so it’s definitely worth you time to consider one.

LGBTQ – Gay Mallorca Travel Guide

Spain is a very welcoming country for LGBT visitors, and Mallorca is no exception. Unsurprisingly, most of the LGBT life is in the capital, Palma. These are a few of the best things you should know about visiting gay Mallorca.

Bar Flexas – This traditionally designed Spanish bar is a popular hangout for both local and visiting gays alike. They make great cocktails and also serve a range of food and put on some interesting shows, live music. And of course there’s a dance floor, though it’s pretty small

The2 Palma – One of the newer gay bars in town, this is a much bigger and livelier alternative to Flexas. It’s mostly dance floor and plays popular tunes but also has local live acts perform occasionally.

Pride – Taking place annually in mid June, Mallorca’s relatively small but fun pride event stretches over a long weekend in Palma. It takes over the streets with a lively parade and ends with an outdoor music festival.
