United States Travel Guide
A quick guide to one of the world’s most diverse and fascinating destinations
I think a lot of people have a lot of pre-conceived ideas of travel to the USA. There are a handful of basic itineraries for first-time visitors from abroad—usually involving the big cities on either coast and a road trip. America is a diverse country, however, with a huge variety of places, people and things to see and do. Start here with my basic travel tips, or jump down below to read my latest USA travel blogs.
Favorite USA Cities
In no particular order, these are some of my favorite cities in the United States, and quickly what I like about each. Click through to read more stories from each destination or to view more photos.
- New York City – obviously! It’s big, it’s diverse, it’s got something for everyone. Incredible art museums, amazing food, nightlife and countless things to see and do.
- Boston – my home for seven years, where I learned how to be an adult. It’s a small city with a big city attitude.
- Dallas – my first home and a city I haven’t really always loved until recently. It’s surprisingly cool and has a really fun gay scene.
- Chicago – an all-time favorite with some of my favorite museums, incredible food and home to the Lollapalooza Festival each summer.
- Los Angeles – Sunshine and sexy boys, do I really need to say more? Also: the LACMA!
- and a lot more!
United States Tours
Road trips are an essential part of the American experience, but if you don’t have time for one, taking a tour can be a great idea. Have a look at this selection of recommended United States tours.
United States Hotel Deals
There’s usually decent deals to be found on hotel search engines like Booking.com or Agoda.com. The trick is to finding a room that’s not directly in the city center, but in one of the less central neighborhoods (often where you’ll find cool hipster places to stay, anyways!). Try the search box below for some last-minute hotel deals around the world.
